7th Academic Council Meeting at Hazara University

The 7th meeting of the academic council was concluded under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah, Vice Chancellor Hazara University by disposing off all the heavy agenda. Very important decisions relating to the growth and development of academics, research and related matters were taken with the unanimity of the views. The board of studies of art and design department, botany, genetics, chemistry, zoology and Urdu recommended certain items regarding the courses, which were approved and approval of Hazara Chair to study and conserve the unique cultural heritage of the area. Important amendments regarding credit hours, relaxing in upper age limit and instituting the board of studies of the department of cultural heritage and creative technologies were also approved inline with the recommendations of the heads of these departments under its umbrella. The academic also approved the launching of center for contemporary languages, comprising short courses leading to diplomas and launching of statistics and Urdu departments was also agreed upon. The academic council gave its approval to the various proposals / recommendations of affiliated institutions regarding admission policy and migration. Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah in his welcome remarks extended heartfelt felicitations to all the members of the academic council.

Nominations for academic council

The Governor / Chancellor Hazara University Mansehra had nominated three eminent educationists / scientists for the Academic Council of the university.  The nominations of these educationists / scientists were notified vide notification No. SO (UE) HE/12-20/2010 dated June 15, 2010 by the Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Higher Education, Archives & Libraries Department. These appointments were made by the Chancellor of the University under the provision of Hazara University Act 1997, Section 23(1)(h), which includes Prof. Dr. Syed Iqbal Shah, Ex. Vice Chancellor, Agriculture University, Peshawar, Prof. Syed Musarrat Shah, Ex. Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar and Prof. Dr. Fazal Rehman Marwat, Chairman Textbook Board, Peshawar. The tenure of the nominees will be for 03-years from the date of joining. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah thanked the Chancellor of the university for nominating the high profile educationists / scientists for the Academic Council of the university. He also congratulated the new members of the Academic Council and hope that the university will benefit from their experiences and guidance for further strengthening of research and academic activities.
