7th Academic Council Meeting at Hazara University

The 7th meeting of the academic council was concluded under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah, Vice Chancellor Hazara University by disposing off all the heavy agenda. Very important decisions relating to the growth and development of academics, research and related matters were taken with the unanimity of the views. The board of studies of art and design department, botany, genetics, chemistry, zoology and Urdu recommended certain items regarding the courses, which were approved and approval of Hazara Chair to study and conserve the unique cultural heritage of the area. Important amendments regarding credit hours, relaxing in upper age limit and instituting the board of studies of the department of cultural heritage and creative technologies were also approved inline with the recommendations of the heads of these departments under its umbrella. The academic also approved the launching of center for contemporary languages, comprising short courses leading to diplomas and launching of statistics and Urdu departments was also agreed upon. The academic council gave its approval to the various proposals / recommendations of affiliated institutions regarding admission policy and migration. Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah in his welcome remarks extended heartfelt felicitations to all the members of the academic council.

Meeting at Hazara University


A meeting of senior faculty, Heads of educational and administrative sections was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah, Vice Chancellor, Hazara University. The meeting discussed various issues pertaining to the research and academics. The meeting offered fatiha for the recent flood victims. The meeting also decided that university employees should donate one-day basic salary for the victims of recent flood in the province. It was also decided that the August 14, 2010 would be celebrated with simplicity due to flood in the country. The meeting condoled the death of flood victims, those who died in air crash and the terrorist attach in Peshawar cantonment where the most eminent FC Commandant and his personal security guards were made the victims of the attack. The meeting prayed for the departed souls and sought the special blessings of Allah to grant them eternal peace in heaven and grant the courage and patience to all the bereaved families to bear the loss of their dear and near once.

14th Meeting of Finance Comittee, Budget approved.

The 14th meeting of the Finance Committee Hazara University was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah. The committee recommended and approved the budget recommendations for the fiscal year 2010-11 and revised budget of the year 2009-10. The total volume of the budget for the year under review was 1254.436 million rupees. The recurrent expenses amounted to Rs. 743.798 million and the developmental expenditure was 510.638 million. The budget reflected a deficit of Rs. 207 million. The meeting discussed and decided the different financial matters regarding the budgetary allocations including the reduction in fee structure of the students due to the prevailing poverty condition of the area. The university also established a student welfare fund for extending financial aid to the needy and poor students, which was recommended and appreciated by the finance committee. The university employees will contribute 1% of their monthly pay in this grant and this tradition would be followed by the rest of the universities of the country. The meeting also considered the proposals regarding the amended different administrative positions in the university. The meeting also recommended considering promotion of employees serving in grade 01 to 04 on the basis of their merit and performance. The finance committee recommended the post of additional treasurer in the treasurer office. The finance committee passed a resolution and recommended to the provincial government that the university was adversely affected in the terrible earthquake of 2005 and it was located in the area where the terrorism was spreading far and wide and the university in these trying circumstances was providing the opportunities of higher education. Therefore, the provincial government must help the university to overcome its deficit by special financial grants. In his brief opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor explained that university was trying to expand the activities of higher education by involving the highly experienced PhD faculty. The university successfully administering the affairs of two campuses at Havelian and Haripur from its own financial resources. The meeting was attended by Mr. Masood Ahmad, Additional Secretary Finance, Peshawar, Mr. Amir Abdur Rehman, Section Officer, Higher Education, Peshawar Mr. Hazrat Bilal, Director Budget, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Shah, Dean Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bakhtiar Muhammad, Dean Sciences, Prof. Dr. Habib Ahmad Chairman Botany Department, Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Chairman Mathematics, Mr. Akbar Khan, Treasurer, Engr. Sohail Alamgir, Director Works and other officers of the university.
