A delegation of DMG officers from Civil Service Academy Lahore visited Hazara University Mansehra on their study tour of the area

A delegation of DMG officers from Civil Service Academy Lahore visited Hazara University Mansehra on their study tour of the area. The group of officers was warmly received in the conference room where Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah in his welcome address extended his greetings to visitors on the University campus. He introduced the Deans of the faculty and Registrar. Later on the delegation turn by turn got them introduced. Thereafter Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Deputy Director R & P in a multimedia presentation traced the brief history of this newly established university. He explained about the natural disaster, which struck the main campus destroying the entire infrastructure during the earthquake of 2005. With the determination and courage of management, faculty and students the university was able to restore its normal functions within a few months. The number teaching departments now have become 32 with 65 affiliated colleges spread across
the Hazara region. Various construction projects have been completed. The university has attracted more than 75. The university is located in a rich biodiversity and strategically important area under the foot of Himalaya, Karakrum and Hindu Kush mountain ranges. This heartland of Pakistan to the North has a valuable cultural heritage, which has been a great hunting spot for Archaeologists, Anthropologists and tourists from all over the world. The delegation showed keen interest in the steadily progressing campus in such a rural background. To a question the delegation was informed that there is no gender distinction or linguistic, racial and ethnic prejudices on the campus and the admissions were open on the merit basis to all the citizens of Pakistan. Hazara University and its two campuses at Havelian and Haripur cater to the needs of the students’ right from Hassanabdal to Chillas covering 400 kilometers all along the route extending to the North
of Pakistan touching Gilgit. The University enjoys a national ranking among the 97 universities of the country at number 16 while in the Province it occupies number 02 position among the public sector universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The delegation then went around the campus and visited the campus radio station, media center and Pheasantry.
